MY PERSONAL STORY

Live life to the fullest has always been my motto.

Though I may be a West Coast girl at heart, I actually grew up in the beautiful countryside of rural Ontario. From a young age I’ve always had an adventurous spirit and strong desire to move, explore and try new things. Though you'll find me surfing and wakeboarding now, my love for the water first began when I tried waterskiing at the age of five. Summers were spent boating, catching frogs, building forts, and swimming until my hands were wrinkled. I developed a deep respect for nature, a love for travel and found, as it stands today, my ultimate happy place in the great outdoors. As a child, I recognized the importance of protecting the health of our planet. Over the years I also began to understand that in order to live life fully, you had to take care of your own health & wellbeing. With a strong desire to help others, boundless energy, and an insatiable zest for life I chose to pursue a rewarding career in health and wellness.

But my own journey to health wasn’t easy. As a young adult, I went through a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows, a pendulum swinging from one extreme to the other. On one end of the spectrum I strove for excellence personally & professionally. Hardworking, driven and passionate I tried to do it all. I worked tirelessly from sunrise to sundown, not wanting to fail in business or at life. But my perfectionism and desire to please people and please myself ultimately became my demise. Although in many I was experiencing success, my life was completely out of balance. On the other end of the spectrum I was exhausted, sleep deprived and emotionally drained. The more I tried to do, the emptier I felt. Years passed and the pendulum swung harder. My business grew exponentially, I travelled to beautiful places and had many countless unforgettable moments with friends & family. Yet at the same time I experienced great losses, heartache, unexpected health issues, and hurdles that seemed insurmountable. I didn't have the knowledge and tools to deal with life's challenges. In an effort to cope, I developed self-destructive behaviours including disordered eating and addictive and self-destructive habits. I lived life from one extreme to the other and catapulted deeper in to what felt like a black depressive hole. On the outside, I appeared happy, energetic and full of life, but on the inside I was struggling, lost and desperately crying for help. Eventually I became depleted on all levels and hit rock bottom.

So I began my path to healing.

My turning point was a yoga and wellness retreat on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Surrounded by the healing powers of the ocean, I experienced guided meditations, daily yoga, nutritious meals, heartfelt conversations and time for introspection and soul searching. This experience brought light back into my life. Time in personal retreat taught me the value of slowing down and honouring time for self-care. Through meditation, breathing, self-reflection and awareness I discovered that I could help shift my state of being. Yoga became a portal to connect more deeply to my feelings, sensations, emotions and belief patterns. I learned how to better listen to my body, trust my intuition and tap into my own inner guidance. Slowly but surely, I was finally coming back home to myself. In my quest for optimal health, I’ve also sought the guidance of many wellness coaches, yoga teachers, support groups, each having played an integral part in my personal growth.

The most fundamental part of my journey has been the healing strength of nature.

Ultimately, it is time spent in nature that restores balance, reconnects me to my soul and guides me back to my truth. Exploring forests and mountain tops, walking endless beaches, surfing the abundant ocean, watching the beauty of a sunset or being in awe of a bright, starry night…this is when my soul feels most alive. Nature truly has the power to nourish the mind, body and spirit.

What I know now it that life is a never ending adventure. There will always be ups, downs, twists and turns. But though life’s triumphs and struggles we can learn, grow and evolve. Today, I’m living much more in align with my true authentic self. Wellness, movement, mindfulness, nature, self-expression, kindness and compassion all play an integral role. Embracing a healthy lifestyle allows me to step closer to living my best life. I want to help you do the same!
